Seed to Scarf IV: Mixing Dye, Staining Hands

Note: no salsas, jellies, or jalapenos were harmed during this procedure.
This part is fun: for the first time I imagine what each individual scarf might look like.  My pattern may be the same, but my color options are practically endless.  How to narrow it down to six or less?  Often I pick a few dark colors, thinking of more exciting shades to over-dye the woven pieces later, but with certain patterns (like the one I'm about to paint) the design itself seems to call for its own color personality.  For the Seaweed Scarf, I'm painting two reds and one green (it is inspired by seaweed, after all), two dark blues, and one black.  Once my dye colors are mixed and ready to go, it will be time to paint that warp.  Stay tuned!
